About Us

Parnall Engineering Advanced Ltd was founded to inspire young people by providing training and creating opportunities to work on exciting, unique engineering projects. We make this happen using our in house industry experts alongside help from outside mentors and local training institutions. By engaging trainees and apprentices in aviation, marine, innovation and construction projects, we provide them with unique opportunities to develop their skills and careers working at a beautiful Cornish estate called Trelonk on the Roseland, Cornwall.

It’s about creating collaboration, passion and above all, support.

Parnall sat at the very centre of engineering excellence in the UK in the 20s, 30s and 40s. Parnall Aircraft employed 10,000 people in and around Bristol in building aircraft and aircraft parts, including Spitfires. They produced their own series of aeroplanes such as the Panther, Puffin, Plover and Gyroplane (and the world’s first rotary winged aircraft), and worked with leading companies such as Frazer Nash, Bentley and Rolls Royce.

A small Parnall plane contingent was based on the Isles of Scilly in the 1920’s on anti submarine patrol. During that time they also populated the world’s first Aircraft Carrier, HMS Argus, with deck aircraft. From 1941 the company was producing Lancaster Gun Turrets.

This rich engineering heritage forms the backbone to our projects today which include the re-building of two Submarine Spitfires as well as developing innovative new design techniques in the marine, construction and virtual reality sectors of the future.
