ENGAGING PEOPLE AND CREATING A PASSION FOR ENGINEERING
Parnall Engineering Advanced at Trelonk is all about engaging people. It was founded to inspire Cornish students by creating opportunities to receive training whilst working on passion projects. We make this happen using our in house industry experts and by collaborating with outside mentors and local training institutions.
It’s about creating collaboration, passion and above all, support.
Parnall sat at the very centre of engineering excellence in the UK in the 20s, 30s and 40s. Parnall Aircraft employed 10,000 people in and around Bristol in building aircraft and aircraft parts, including Spitfires. They produced their own series of aeroplanes such as the Panther, Puffin, Plover and Gyroplane (and the world’s first rotary winged aircraft), and worked with leading companies such as Frazer Nash, Bentley and Rolls Royce.
A small Parnall plane contingent was based on the Isles of Scilly in the 1920’s on anti submarine patrol. During that time they also populated the world’s first Aircraft Carrier, HMS Argus, with deck aircraft.
From 1941 the company was producing Lancaster Gun Turrets.
